Session 2: Final Day of STEM

Mayo in STEM

Today in STEM, we made mayonnaise. I really enjoyed making the mayonnaise only because mine was one of the best that was made. I think that many people enjoyed it as well. We made the mayonnaise with lemon juice, oil, 1 egg yolk, salt, mustard, and vinegar. That is what we used to make our MAYO! -Journee N.

Liquid Nitrogen
Today instead of English we used liquid nitrogen to deflate balloons. Without popping the balloon so the way we did it was that we have oxygen in the balloon. So we put the balloon in the liquid nitrogen then we pull it out. Then we watch it as the liquid nitrogen falls off the balloon. The liquid nitrogen has a boiling point of  -192 then she told us about how the balloon deflated. It has an element that is gas at room temp called nitrogen. -Marquez C.

Vacation

Today in PECO STEM, we prepared for a vacation. Not an actual vacation, but a fake one were going to take after we finish our houses. My group chose to go to Orlando, were going by plane. Were leaving August 2, and were coming back August 6. We started today and we should finish by tomorrow. I enjoyed this project, it was fun & I learned a lot. I look forward to presenting it at the ceremony. – LaTia W.

Hot Milk Day
Today in class we heated up various types milk to find how dense they were. The types were whole, 2% and skim milk. I had whole and saw that if you boil it, it will boil-over. We all loved it very much. Tomorrow will be the last time you hear from me so be ready! -Paul M.

Homemade IceCream
Today in Language Arts we made homemade ice with hydrogen monoxide. Every few minutes we had to pour hydrogen monoxide and it would get smoky. We all had to make the same laugh as a witch if we wanted to stir. It was fun and good for our first time making it. –Ciera C.
